  • Biography:
    Lou E. Pelton (Ph.D., University of Mississippi) is a marketing professor in the Department of Marketing and Logistics at the University of North Texas and has also served as a Visiting Scholar in the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. He has been a guest scholar at universities in the U.S. and abroad, including City University of New York, Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Emory University, Fudan University, Georgia College and State University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University,  Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,  Hong Kong Baptist University, Lignan University, Monash University, Nanyang Technological University, National Taiwan Ocean University, National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Central University,  National Taiwan Chengchi University, National University of Singapore, Seoul National University, The Ohio State University, Texas Tech University, Tsinghua University, University of Oklahoma, Universidad Tocuato de Tella and University of Queensland. Dr. Pelton’s principal research interests include international marketing channels and distribution sciences, relationship marketing and other dimensions of exchange governance. Dr. Pelton is senior author of the textbooks titled Marketing Channels: A Relationship Management Approach (Irwin/McGraw Hill/1e, 2e) and Marketing Channels: Managing Supply Chain Relationships (McGraw-Hill International, 1e,2e, 3e). His books have been translated in Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and German. He is also lead author of the forthcoming textbook, Marketing Channels: Resource Advantage in the Value Chain (1e, Oxford University Press).  Dr. Pelton served as Editor of the Journal of Marketing Channels, and he has been Guest Editor of the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, the Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship. He currently serves on the Editorial Review Board of many leading scholarly marketing journals. Dr. Lou E. Pelton is co-editor of Rights, Relationships and Responsibilities (KSU Press) and Business Ethics: Perspectives on Corporate Responsibility (Houghton-Mifflin). He has been awarded the “Best Research Paper” from the International Society of Franchising for his work on psychological climate in franchising relationships. His articles appear in Advances in Marketing, Business Horizons, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Consumer Marketing,  Journal of Healthcare Marketing, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, Journal of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management, Journal of Retailing, Research in Marketing, among others.   Dr. Pelton is the Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Virtual Trade Mission Foundation, and he is the sole professorial Delegation Leader to the APEC China CEO Forum and the APEC CEO Summits (2008 – present).  Dr. Pelton has delivered educational programs and keynote addresses for associations, businesses, governments and universities in Asia, Europe, South America and the U.S.  He has consulted for a variety of Fortune 500 firms, as well. Dr. Pelton has served in a variety of leadership roles, including president of the Federation of Business Disciplines, vice president (international) of the American Marketing Association, vice president of the Academy of Marketing Science, and president of the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators.  Dr. Lou E. Pelton is an award-winning educator and recipient of the Academy of Marketing Science “Outstanding Educator Award”; the J.H., Shelton Excellence in Teaching Award; the Citation for Distinguished Service to International Education; and the Mortar Board “Outstanding Teaching Award.”  Dr. Plton is also a marketing practitioner: he serves as CEO and Chairman of Huang Xin Lu Pte Ltd.  and presides as Chairman of Lepiphany Eats Ltd.  He also serves on a number of Advisory Boards for multinational firms.
